The Loft
T.R.U.E. Diversity & The Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) for the Whittenton District have come together to further the revitalization of Taunton’s Whittenton neighborhood by advancing the establishment of a Community Resilience Hub. This initiative will repurpose the long-vacant 6,000 square-footbuilding at 325 Bay Street Taunton – of which T.R.U.E. has now secured site control – into a vibrant community space named "The Loft: Launchpad for Opportunity, Friendship, Teaching."
Once complete, The Loft will serve as a cornerstone for the region as a Community Resilience Hub. Not only designed to help the district for emergency preparedness, The Loft will provide steady-state community engagement, education, and empowerment, offering a variety of programs and resources aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents of Whittenton and beyond. The Loft will feature an Urban Room community and event space, afterschool programming, and a flagship Green Energy Training Center. It will serve as a hub for community gatherings, small business support, and workforce development initiatives, with a specific focus on training underserved youth and young adults in the clean energy sector.
